Happy Monday everyone! Hope you had a fabulous weekend! I spent mine celebrating my bestie’s birthday and then been working on my move to my new apartment. Everything hasn’t been finalized yet but I’m busy making lists of things that need to be packed and bought.
For this Goodreads Monday I will be talking about Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews. For those of you who may not be aware, Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme where anyone can choose to highlight a book from their Goodreads TBR and was originally created by Lauren’s Page Turners
When the magic is up, rogue mages cast their spells and monsters appear, while guns refuse to fire and cars fail to start. But then technology returns, and the magic recedes as unpredictably as it arose, leaving all kinds of paranormal problems in its wake.
Kate Daniels is a down-on-her-luck mercenary who makes her living cleaning up these magical problems. But when Kate’s guardian is murdered, her quest for justice draws her into a power struggle between two strong factions within Atlanta’s magic circles.
The Masters of the Dead, necromancers who can control vampires, and the Pack, a paramilitary clan of shapechangers, blame each other for a series of bizarre killings—and the death of Kate’s guardian may be part of the same mystery. Pressured by both sides to find the killer, Kate realizes she’s way out of her league—but she wouldn’t have it any other way (Goodreads, 2007).
Comments: I really enjoy urban fantasy, but don’t think I’ve come across one that I’ve loved since I last read Laurel K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake series. I’ve been hearing the bookstagram/bookish community rave about Ilona Andrews’ books for a long time so I’m hoping that I will get to this book before the end of the year.
