Book Beginnings on Friday #3- Torn

Happy Friday! Looking forward to some R&R this weekend, but I’m happy to be taking part in Book Beginnings on Friday again partially because I’m really loving the book I’m going to be sharing this week.

Book Beginnings on Fridays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Rose City Reader. Bloggers and readers alike post a sentence or so from the book they are currently enjoying as well as any thoughts that sentence inspired.

This week’s book is “Torn” by Jennifer Armentrout.

My blood, red as a freshly picked rose, bubbled up from the center of my palm like my hand was some kind of volcano of freaking doom.

I was the halfling

This is some powerful imagery on the part of Jennifer Armentrout and a great way to start of f book 2 of the Wicked trilogy. Basically this is a major bombshell for the main character, Ivy, and she is going to have to figure out a way to deal with this really fast. Her life literally depends on how she will respond to this.

I really enjoyed book 1 of the Wicked trilogy and feel that book 2 has a bit of a faster pace, which I’m enjoying even more.

Stay tuned for my review of “Torn” and if you are interested in hearing my thoughts on book 1, check out my review at

Let me know what you think and/or what books you are reading this week.

  1. Oooh you’re right, that is an amazing, visceral way to start your book! I haven’t read this series, but it has me intrigued! I hope you have a lovely week and do drop by my Friday post if you have the time! – Juli @ A Universe in Words
