May Reading Wrap Up

It’s been three months since I’ve decided to start this blog and I feel like so much has happened since then. Just these last few weeks have felt almost monumental as I got to spend time with two different groups of friends for the first time since the pandemic started. All throughout the pandemic I’ve missed being able to spend time with friends even if it meant just being able to sit down somewhere with a coffee or a drink and just being able to chat. I’m so glad that I’m able to do that again even if it does feel surreal.

In terms of this blog, I can’t believe that I’ve already written 50 posts! I’m so excited to be able to share my thoughts about the books that I’ve read with fellow readers. I really love reading the comments that my posts generate as well as checking out other blogs. My TBR list has grown tremendously thanks in part to the reviews/recommendations of other bloggers.

In other news, I’ve recently started my own bookstagram account (@msbookworld)! Feel free to check it out, I tend post reviews as well as quotes and other bookish musings that come to mind.

Reading Recap

May had it’s ups and downs for me in terms of reading. I chose to savor certain books and some just dragged. Surprisingly I managed to beat my goal of 6 books a month and finished 8.

The Beautiful Ones

A Touch of Darkness

A Murder in Time

Kingdom of the Wicked

A Twist in Time

Wicked Fox

*two of the books I’ve read this month were ARCs for a blog that I am guest reviewing for. I will share more details and links once they have officially been posted

Blog Posts I’ve Enjoyed This Month

Just like in April I wanted to take the time to highlight a few of the blog posts I enjoyed reading this month:

Goodbye, Goodreads. Hello Storygraph?

I thought Katie did a great job of discussing some of the downsides of using Goodreads as well as both the pros and cons of Storygraph. I’ve been a lot about the site from other bloggers and bookstagrammers, but in my opinion this was the most comprehensive discussing of the site that I’ve seen so far. I haven’t had the chance to try it out myself yet, but I have to say that I’m very curious to see where it will go.

Standout SFF Stand-alones!

I’m usually not a fan of standalones, but Becky put together a great list of books. Some of these I’ve read, but some like The Priory of the Orange Tree and Gods of Jade and Shadow are moving up on my TBR courtesy of her mini reviews.

ABC Book Challenge- Y

I’m always on the lookout for fun book tags and challenges to do. Thanks to Stephen’s post I’ve just discovered another one, The ABC Book Challenge. I have to applaud him for sticking this one out as it sounds like quite a long one, but also a great way to reminisce about and share the most memorable books you’ve read so far.

Did you have a good reading month? Any blogs/post catch your attention?
