Lore by Alexandra Bracken Mini Review

Good morning, hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and your day is off to an easy start. I spent the weekend celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday and working on getting my new apartment nice and homey for when I move in at the end of the month. In terms of reading, I recently finished Lore by Alexandra Bracken as part of my bookclub. Unfortunately, I found it to be a disappointing read

Lore tells the story of Melora “Lore” Perseous, descendant of the great Greek hero Perseus. Raised in a warrior society dedicated to hunting and claiming the power of the ancient Greek gods, Lore has left that world behind due to a personal tragedy. She is forced back into the hunt, due to an unexpected run in with the goddess, Athena, who dangles a prize before her that Lore can’t possibly resist.

Being a huge fan of Greek mythology I was really excited to start this book. However, it just seemed to drag. In my opinion, the pacing could have been done better with the flashbacks combined as opposed to sprinkled throughout the book. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I also had a hard time connecting with the characters. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t like Lore and most of the other characters just seemed to blend into the background.

This was a 3 out of 5 star read for me, because the story couldn’t hold my attention. I honestly only finished it, because it was a bookclub read.
